Subject: Problem display HTML Mails with iso-8859-1
Feedback Type: Problem
Product Area: Notes 8 Client
Technical Area: User Interface
Platform: Linux
Release: Beta 3
Reproducible: Always

Hi,

I like to post an issue concerning the mail preview and also display a mail after opening.
When I receive a mail with content type "text/html" and the characterSet "iso-8859-1" (Germany), my Notes 8 Client can not display the characters correctly. (a lot of Questionmarks will be shown)
For me it seems that this only happens with html mails. Mail with Content Type "text/plain" and character set iso-8859-1 can be opened well. And german characters will be displayed correctly.

Also this Problem only occurs when opening a mail. When I response with history to that mail all characters will be transformed and displayed correctly.

A typical Mail header where the problem occurs looks like this:

--------------------------------------
Content-class: urn:content-classes:message

Content-Type: multipart/alternative;

boundary="----_=_NextPart_001_01C7CDFC.87A841F7"

This is a multi-part message in MIME format.

Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable

Content-Type: text/html;

charset="iso-8859-1"

<html xmlns:v=3D"urn:schemas-microsoft-com:vml" =

xmlns:o=3D"urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" =

xmlns:w=3D"urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:word" =

xmlns:m=3D"http://schemas.microsoft.com/office/2004/12/omml" =

xmlns=3D"http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-html40">

<head>

<meta http-equiv=3DContent-Type content=3D"text/html; =

charset=3Diso-8859-1">

<meta name=3DGenerator content=3D"Microsoft Word 12 (filtered medium)">

....
------------------------------------------

Maybe that the problem comes from my linux installation. But for me it looks like a general problem when notes runs in a german OS and notes should open html-mails with is-8859-1 encoding.

Can someone report if he have a similar behavior?

thanks
Ralph
